We opened each tool's own pricing or upgrade page and wrote down the free allowance, every paid option and what paying unlocks. We didn't use review sites or directories. Where a tool doesn't publish its price before you sign up, the table says so.
Some sites show prices in your local currency. Smut.me listed pounds, and aismutwriter and AmoreWithAI listed rupees, so the table shows what each site displayed.
What “free” means at each tool
Free tiers fall into three kinds:
- A few stories a day. Smitten (2, no account), Smut.me (3, basic model and shorter stories), SmutWriter (a daily allowance), aismutwriter (6 credits) and NovelX (5 tokens a day after 10 to start).
- A one-time trial. NovelAI (50 text generations), AmoreWithAI (20 credits), AIWriteBook (100 credits, about 12 pages) and Sudowrite.
- Free to start, then pay per use. SmutFinder sells credit packs from $4.99.
The features people tend to want next, such as longer chapters, memory across chapters, saving and continuing stories, or explicit content at AIWriteBook, sit behind those paid plans.
Which one should you use?
- You want to write explicit stories without paying: AI Smut Generator. Every writing feature is free, up to 30 stories a day.
- You want pictures of your characters: NovelAI, NovelX or AmoreWithAI, on a paid plan.
- You want stories read aloud: Smitten Plus, NovelX or AmoreWithAI.
- You want to chat with a character rather than read a story: NovelX or aismutwriter's chat mode.
